Skills Development - Photography Development

The photo above is a medium close- up, which is shoulders up wards it helps the audience see the expreesions on the face of the model and also will help them remember their face if they see them in the future. Another shot I could do aswell is a close - up which is just of the face or an extreme close- up which is just of the eyes, this will show the models face in even more detail.

Mid - Shot is waist upwards this gives the audience an indication to what the model is wearing and any movements of the arms, it is used alot of the time fgor front covers due to it is not as extreme as a close- up but still is easier to digest what the model is doing.

This full body shot helps the model express their feelings and stance more and also is usefull to show off what their wearing, espically in a clothes magazine. it is also a good shot for aband to be shown in a music magfazine because you can see the full band due to you are zooming out.

Skills Develpoment - Journalism Development

Dizzie Rascal - Dylan Kwabena Mills
Dizzee Rascal is a british rapper, song writer and record producer who is now one of Britains most sucsessful rap artists of all time. He was born in London in 1985 and had a very challenging child hood, his father died when he was 5 and he was raised for most of his life by his African-born mother. He attended a series of schools in East London, excluded from four Secondary schools in four years, it was a teacher who first called him "Rascal", where his stage name originated from. In his fifth school he found his love for music, he only attended his music lessons and his talent in music was found. Aged 16, his mum bought him his first decks which lead to him becoming an ametur DJ were he performed on private radio stations, with his new found love he produced his first hit I Luv U which entered the UK Top 30 singles. This took Dylan Kwabena Mills (29) to new heights, he won The Widewinder Award for Best Newcomer MC in 2002 this quickly followed to his first and best album, Boy in da Corner in 2003 this garage/hip hop genre was a huge hit with his ever building fan club with such huge succesful singles such as Fix Up Look Sharp and his first single I Luv U. Dizzee was awarded the prestigious Mercury Prize for the best album of 2003 and a new star on the british music scene was born. The next 7 years for Dizzee Rascal have been a dream, three more albums; Showtime, Maths +English and Tongue 'n' Cheek leading to more awards and a larger fan base. Why is he so succesful then? The range of genres he covers from grime to electo - pop means that lots of different audiences are attracted by his music rather than staying with a niche audience which may lead to him not being as successful. His success has ment that was the sound of the british music scene in the noughties, due to his domination in album selling, singe selling and amazing live performances.

Flat Plans

Front Cover- I have choice to use three main colours for my front cover, double page and double page spread so it looks more professional and readers now what magazine they are reading due to they can realte to the colours chisen. I have called my magazine verified due to it is very catchy and sounds ver kool and up-date, what the readers are wanting. The main article is of the band that are pictured on the front cover the lead singer is in front of the over two band members because a lead soinger in a band stands out more from the other members. Sell lines are either side of the main front cover picture, i have done a tiny sentence after each sell line to give more information about poarts of the article. I have chose a white background so the black and red colours chose for the sell lines and mast head stand out better due to the contrast in colour. More important word are in larger fonts such as 'exclusive' so readers can see these are the more important topics/areas of the magazine.

Contents Page- Another main picture of the band in the featured article which shows the audience how big and interesting the interview is. Page numbers are done in a stand out colour so articles are easier to find for readers and persuades them more to read whats avaliable. 'Verified' is again placed in the top right hand corner, same as the front cover. Imformation about the magazine is really giving more information which is firstly stated on the front cover. In the bottom left hand corner, there is an advertisment for the magazine which is about subcription to the magazine, so hopefully will help sell more magazines. The large 'win' sign in the top left hand corner also persuades the reader to buy this magazine due to it shows a benefit of doing so.

Double Page Spread -The double page spread firstly shows what type of music listeners will be interesting in this band, Arctic Monkey fans, from my primary research a high percentage were big fans of Arctic Monkeys so this will persuade consumers to read the article due to they would like the genre of music. I have placed four pictures in my double page spread to make sure readers remember the band members faces so they canidentify them if they listen to their music after they have read the article. I have added 'The biggest sound of 2010' because my readers are interested at being up to date with new bands, so this will help them do so.

Recce of Location

Potential location- Photoshoot room.

Why a good loaction?
- Lighting is high and will look very effective for my front cover. I also woudn't have have to change the white screen behind the subjects. Access is hard due to need to get an early booking or else it may be full when i want to be able to use it. Room to do different photos due to lots of room.

Potential Location- Behind the arts centre

Why a good location? - Only avaliable in the daytime when it is bright, but the location looks very run-down which make sit look authentic an realistic. the fact that the location is very old and not up-to-date shows the genre of the bands music which was listened to alot of years ago, the location demonsates this

Potential Location-To the side of the arts college

Why a good location? - Outside so only can beused with good ligh, middle of the day. location is very dramatic and will represent a typical run down building area that needs refurbishing, the
steps also make it better due to photos can be made at different sizes easier beacuse of more room to position band members.

Photoshoot plans.

My main cover photo is going to be in the photoshoot area with high lighting with a white background so it is not dull and makes the main models and sell lines stand out from the plain background. I am going to tilt the camera down on the three band members slightly so the camera has a higher eye, the band members are going to be in a triangular shape with the main singer at the front with the drummer and the bass player on his shoulder either side.

I want to use stairs at the back of the college so band members can be put on different levels and I can use the bush and wall at either side of the location to help me with the depth of field of my camera angles, and also be good assests for more effective photography. I will be using natural day light. The limitation with this position is that i can only change the angle to the left the wall blocks me from going right.

The old windows for the background of my photoshoot plan is very effective but the dull colours of them are a positiove for they won't be to dominat compared to the main subject. A good location because i have lots of room to postion my camera, either side, left or right. Natural lighting and natural bushes to relate to the typical theme of my photo shoot.

Paragraph Plans
For my double page spread i am going to create short paragraphs which are short and snappy, ones to keep the readers interest on the band being interviewed. I will start a new paragraph on average at the end of every question the band answer, this will keep a good shape to my article and will be easier to reader for the audience.
